Professor Dr. Fazlul Halim Choudhury

Professor Dr. Fazlul Halim Choudhry was born on 1st August 1930 at Kunjasreepur, Comilla, Bangladesh. He obtained B.Sc. (Hons.) and M.Sc. in Chemistry in 1950 and 1951 respectively from Dhaka University and received Ph.D. from Manchester University, UK in 1955.

 

Professor Choudhury started his career as a Lecturer in Dhaka University in 1952 and became Professor of Chemistry Department in Rajshahi University in 1963. He was the Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University from 2nd February 1976 to 20th March 1983. His fields of specialization were Electrochemistry, Cellulose Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Polyelectrolytes, Science and Technology Policy in Developing Countries.

 

Professor Choudhury was the President of Bangladesh Chemical Society. He was a Senior Fellow of Asia Foundation and American Association for the Advancement of Science. He enjoyed the Fellowships of the Nuffield Foundation, Cambridge University, and Commonwealth Academic Staff.

Professor F. H. Choudhury expired on 9 April 1996.
